Telemedicine for PCOS and Fertility Concerns

I offer consultations for patients seeking information/clarification for polycystic ovarian syndrome (PCOS) and/or fertility issues. As part of my care, we can: finalize a diagnosis, discuss which specialists might helpful, review what has been recommended for you and why, discuss pros and cons of alternative treatments and whether they are safe for your situation. Magical therapies aren’t my thing. Neither are expensive alternative regimens. I believe well educated patients have more effective visits with all their medical providers, which is critical to effective treatment plans.

My Background

I have spent the last 14 years providing naturopathic family medicine for adults with specialty in women’s health and menstrual/hormonal complaints.

What Do Consultations Entail?

Often patients with PCOS or fertility symptoms will have spent years attempting to be diagnosed, managing multiple specialist visits, and will have had very little time to ask questions despite all those healthcare contact hours. Patients then turn to the internet, which results in a lot of conflicting advice that may not account for your circumstances. My goal is to fill this education gap so you can feel more confident in managing your condition. Sometimes this is through ongoing visits- sometimes one visit clarifies lingering questions and that is all you need.

Some Issues Are Not a Good Fit with Telemedicine

Telemedicine is really best for stable concerns. Anyone requiring acute care or who has an unstable complaint that needs a physical exam is best served in person with urgent care, primary care, or a specialist.

Some examples that are incompatible with telemedicine:

  • Unexplained menstrual bleeding that has not been evaluated or discussed in person.

  • Feeling acutely unwell and requiring urgent bloodwork or other evaluation.

  • Symptoms that involve pain that have not been evaluated in person.
